Hiking trip

A little further from the caribous herd, there were snow patches, a frequent thing in the Park, even in July! It was so exhilarating (I have to say that we both love winter). We took some pictures and went our way. It seems like the path stopped there. Weird! At my right, there was a small trail that I went on exploring… while keeping Manon at sight. Finally, it was just an animal trail. Right in front, a small lake, impossible to go over it… At my left, snow, as far as the eye can see. Nice… but where are the indications to find our way?

Manon looked around, up the snowy hill, she went a little further – but not too far since the fog was still heavy and we didn’t want to take any chances. She then remembered the hiker who had told us that he had to go around a huge snow patch that was going over a small lake… we had to go that way! She then called me “Martine, come here”! The indication sign was covered by the snow. On a nice sunny day, it’s easy for hikers to find their way but in the fog, it’s another story! It’s important not to lose the last reference point.
